  • Lionel Messi’s second-half strike against Eibar on Sunday marked his 400th goal in La Liga - becoming the first player to reach the milestone in one of Europe’s top five leagues. That special goal also extended the Argentines lead as the all-time leading scorer in La Liga history as Barcelona opened the gap between them and arch-rivals Real Madrid to 10 points with a routine 3-0 win.


  • The Welshman will leave The Gunners after spending a decade of his career in North London.   • Franck Ribery sustained a hamstring problem during a training match in Doha. The club confirmed Ribery suffered a hamstring at their training camp and appears set for a spell on the sidelines. The club is currently in Qatar for a warm-weather camp. The Bavarians haven't given a timescale on Ribery's recovery, announcing he will be on the sidelines 'for the time being'.

  • Alvaro Morata suffered a knee injury yesterday night as Chelsea drew 2-2 with MOL Vidi in a Europa League clash. The club is waiting to find out the extent of Morata's injury after the striker was taken off just before the halftime. The injury status of Morata is not yet known but Maurizio Sarri is hopeful the injury won't prevent Morata from playing on Sunday's match against Brighton.

  • Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric won the 2018 Ballon d'Or, becoming the first player other than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo to claim the award in more than a decade. Modric, 33, won his third successive Champions League in May before helping Croatia to a first World Cup final. Christiano Ronaldo came second, Lionel Messi finished fifth, with Atletico Madrid frontman Antoine Griezmann and PSG attacker Kylian Mbappe - both of whom won the World Cup with France - third and fourth respectively.

In the press conference Allegri said "Ronaldo gives us a sense of security and confidence. The team is essentially the same as last season.   • Ousman Dembele has been linked with a move to Arsenal this January, with sources claiming that he has failed to impress at Barcelona since arriving at Nou Camp last summer.
